Elinvar has been working in the philanthropic sector since 2013. We understand the unique aspects of leading in this sector which is facing multiple challenges. Our work has included supporting family, community, hospital conversion, and private foundations.
PHILANTHROPY CASE STUDIES
NC IDEA Foundation
Elinvar began working with NC IDEA Foundation at its inception. The new foundation with a corpus of approximately $50 million had a mission to create a robust ecosystem across NC in support of economic development and job creation through supporting the success of entrepreneurs across the state.
Elinvar conducted a national search for the Foundation’s first CEO, launching the search in October 2015 and placing the CEO, a former Vice President of Entrepreneurship at Kauffman Foundation, in March 2016. Under this CEO, NC IDEA Foundation has expanded programs and grant making and broadened the focus of the work to reach traditionally under-resourced entrepreneurs.

Golden LEAF
In the summer of 2019, the second, long-term President in the history of the Golden LEAF left the foundation for another opportunity. The board-level search committee retained Elinvar to recruit a leader who had both knowledge and passion for developing rural North Carolina’s economy and one who could successfully follow a very popular leader.
The search timeline was particularly aggressive, and Elinvar was able to meet all deadlines and benchmarks, ultimately placing a candidate in October 2019 who has exceeded expectations.

Danville Regional Foundation
Elinvar was first retained by the Danville Regional Foundation in 2012, and we continue to support the Foundation. Our initial engagement involved working with the then President & CEO Karl Stauber to conduct the search for a CFO; the following year we conducted the search for the Foundation’s first Senior Program Officer for Health and Human Services.
In both searches, Elinvar was charged with finding talented professionals excited to live in the Danville Region if they were not current residents. Both additions to the senior team fit into culture of the Foundation and the community it serves, while also bringing passion and technical skills to their respective positions.
