Silver Threads

Working in the nonprofit sector has never been more rewarding or more heartbreaking. Early in 2020 we heard the expression “silver threads,” and this theme has stuck with us as we reflect on 2020, 2021 and look to 2022 with continued hope and determination.

Silver Threads

  • The elevated awareness of systemic racism and economic disparities will lead to positive change in our systems.

  • So far philanthropic giving is staying strong, on-line fundraising events have continued to be successful and foundations are increasing their spends and loosening funding restrictions.

  • Nonprofit leaders are resilient! They are bringing renewed focus and strategies that are rejuvenating their organizations to meet the increased needs in our communities.

Hope

We have learned during this pandemic that we cannot take our foot off the pedal as we work to weave these silver threads into a fabric of systemic change in a way that lives up to our best intentions and values.

We are honored to be working with amazing nonprofit leaders as they lead their organizations and communities during this challenging time. We hope all of you can make time to recharge because you deserve it!

Elinvar News

Together with our clients, we learned along the way as we transitioned to a virtual model for executive search. We continue to be grateful for opportunities to connect outstanding leaders with mission-driven organizations.

This virtual approach supported the Gillenwater family’s move to Winston-Salem, providing a new adventure and close proximity to clients beyond the Triangle.

Elinvar has grown! Monica Pigues joined our team in the fourth quarter of 2020, and we are super excited to have her expertise and the expanded capacity she brings to our team. In addition, Gerri Williams and Kelley O’Brien are entering their 6th year of serving Elinvar clients.

Board development is a new Elinvar offering. Patti Gillenwater completed the Board Source Certificate for nonprofit board development and we are excited to bring this knowledge to our nonprofit clients. We have all been continuing our personal development in deepening our understanding of how to embed a diversity, equity and inclusion lens into all aspects of our work.

We are grateful for you, your support, and all that you do to support equity and success in our state.

The Elinvar team is wishing for you a healthy and hopeful 2022.

With gratitude,
Patti, Gerri, Kelley, & Monica
