Bob is an academically trained master coach, who holds a Master of Arts Degree in Executive Coaching, with Distinction, from Middlesex University in London. He studied under Dr. David Lane of Middlesex, who is known internationally for his work in credentialing and standards for the field of business coaching. Bob employs a personally designed Situational Coaching Model that has been forged through 30 plus years of comprehensive business experience gained across a broad spectrum of industries. It includes lessons learned from active coaching, counseling and mentoring, OE/OD initiatives, consulting and training, all focused on driving behavioral change at the individual, unit and enterprise level.
Bob brings to his coaching practice a unique perspective on understanding and managing change as he has been on both sides and in the middle of six major mergers and acquisitions.
Bob has a well-documented history of being viewed as someone who people trust implicitly. He has always adhered to the highest ethical standards and treats the confidentiality of the client relationship as sacrosanct regardless of the corporate political ramifications. His success in the business world has largely been a result of his belief in and support of others getting the credit for their collective achievements. Moreover, he has acquired the patience to let others learn rather than taking over the solution personally. Bob has always believed that a major key to development is focusing on building strengths vs. focusing on weaknesses in positive transformational outcomes and he has continued that perspective in his coaching, counseling and mentoring engagements going forward.
Bob has led progressive and innovative HR organizations at the most senior level and he has managed large-scale business operations as well. Most recently Bob was Senior Vice President & Executive Coach at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina. He joined the company from The Travelers Property and Casualty Corp. Under Bob’s leadership, Blue Cross has received numerous national awards as an employer of choice, including the Training Top 100 Award from Training Magazine for three consecutive years, the Best Award from ASTD and Working Mother 100 Best Companies in 2007.
At Travelers, Bob served as Vice President of Human Resources for the company’s largest division with nearly 10,000 employees. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President, Human Resources, for the Metra Health Companies, a managed care joint venture. He also was Corporate Vice President of Human Resources for Advo, Inc., the nation’s largest direct mail marketing company, and Vice President, Human Resources Worldwide for KFC Corporation.
